Maddie let out a small sigh of relief, suddenly feeling better about the prospect of the arrangement. Eames seemed level headed, professional, and even kind. Very trusting, which was the most important thing to Bruce. Surprisingly enough, the man wasn’t as intimidating as he looked. At least not to her.
“I can make a list of the people that I have regular contact with. Not a problem. Rest assured it’s a short one. All very trustworthy.” She nodded at his explanation about the living situation, but was still worried.
The guest room wasn’t really a guest room per say. There was a bed there, sure, but it was like a box. “Got it. Well… other than the few things that you need from me, I don’t see why this wouldn’t work out just fine. Hopefully you feel the same?”
When he’d first gotten the details of the assignment he was hesitant to actually accept it. Eames had grown tired of dealing with socialites and figured this job would be just like some of the others he’d worked on over the years. But he’d promised his friend he would and now that they had chatted, he had to agree. He didn’t think there would be any problems at all with the two of them working together. Well, as long as she actually listened to him. There were some clients he’d worked for that wanted their freedom and his protection at the same time. It usually ended up with him leaving in frustration and wishing the client well in finding someone they could work with. Miss Wayne he felt like he could work with.
“I tend to agree with you. I can’t see why this wouldn’t work out either. Unless you’ve got some things you’ve not shared with me.” Eames figured that if there were anything else she needed to tell him she would have. Or he would find out from his boss. But either way he knew that this would actually work. More so than any of the other jobs he’d worked in the past. “I would need a few days to get some things together unless you’re needing my services immediately? And then I could probably show up within twenty-four hours. I do have one question to ask of you.” And it was one that a lot of people tended not to agree with. But if he was going to do this, he would need to carry a sidearm. Given the fact that the client was a doctor, that could prove quite the sticking point.
“Will me carrying a gun be any sort of an issue for you?”
