“Can’t feel much beside pressure. Phantom pain sometimes when I have to take it off. That itch you can’t scratch, y’know?"
[ He’s being far too honest with this stranger, more so than he is with Steve. He busies himself pushing his sleeve down and packing away his kit. ]
"He fixes it completely. Wiring, panels, everythin’. Be as good as new.”
[ Tell him he’s prying. Tell him he’s being too nosy. ]
“It’s okay, people are always curious about it."
"Yeah, think I can understand that actually. Something you probably get used to in time, yeah?”
[ He shouldn’t be asking the questions that keep popping into his head. Eames hasn’t ever met anyone like James and his curiosity’s beyond piqued. But there was a limit to everything and the most he asked the more he would push the other away. And were he honest with himself he’d like to at least talk with him under different circumstances. ]
“That’s one hell of a mate then. Not that I can really talk. I’ve got one like that. Helps me out with this thing I’ve got. He knows it like he knows the back of his own hand.”

[ Strange that he mentions Arthur in a round about sort of way. He rarely mentions his life. It was dangerous for people to know what he did. It left them as a connection, a weakness, and he had plenty of those to deal with. The last thing he needed was another connection to him. ]
“Yeah but that saying? Curiosity killed the cat? Rings a bit true some days. And I’m sure you’d rather not have t'say the same bloody thing over and over again. Bit insensitive ifn you ask me. You’re more than just the arm. Buy you a drink? Or you need to go?”
