Howard stands before the cabinet, his back to Eames. “I beg to differ.” He keeps his tone firm, absent of any identifiable emotion. “It’s not a question of imagination. Either you want to be a criminal, or you want to be something different. Don’t make excuses for it.”

“If you couldn’t be Howard Stark any more, if the life you’ve had you were told you couldn’t have any more, you saying you could do it without any sort of reservations?” Eames wasn’t making excuses. He was saying things like how they were. Two decades, give or take, he’d been a criminal. Now, he was thinking of leaving it behind. It wasn’t an easy decision. Especially as he now had someone in his life worth going straight for. “S'not as easy as you make it out t'be, Howard.”
